If you are having trouble connecting to the game or are receiving error messages, these tips might help you resolve your technical problems.

What are the minimum system requirements for the game?

  • Pentium II 500 MHz
  • 32 MB RAM
  • 50 MB free hard drive space
  • Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, 2000, XP
  • Internet Explorer 5.5
  • Internet Connection 28.8 Kbits/sec

If you use AOL to connect to the Internet, version 7.0 is required

Why does the game freeze or display "Cannot download map error" at Updating Map screen?

Problem description:

Some old versions of the game install "read-only" or corrupted copies of the map files. When the Starpeace Online update attempts to replace the map, it fails, making the game freeze or display an error message.

Solution

The solution is to delete the affected files by hand so the updater can download new copies from the official site.

Here is how to do it:

  • Make sure the game is not running
  • Enter the directory where Starpeace Online is installed
  • Enter the directory Cache
  • Enter the directory Maps
  • Delete the map of the world you are trying to join
  • Run the game again and wait for the map to download. This will take time depending on the speed of your connection

I have problems connecting to the game.

Problem description

When I launch Starpeace Online, the game stops immediately on the first page.

Solution

Please make sure you can play the game from behind a proxy or firewall. Proxies of firewalls could have been set up either at your system or at your ISP.

The use of Personal Firewalls, E.g. Norton Firewall could cause this problem. Disable the firewall or configure it properly to allow connecting to web pages from the two Starpeace Online executables, FIVEVoyager.exe and Voyager.exe.

Alternatively, make sure that the following ports are open towards the outside in your firewall: 6000, 6010, 7001, 8000, 8010, 10000.

Some download managers (i.e. Gozilla, GetItRight) also can conflict with the game. Disable them before running Starpeace Online.
